Six Kyiv Mohyla graduates received the Georgiy Gongadze Prize in Journalism
The Georgiy Gongadze Prize was founded by PEN Ukraine in partnership with the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School Alumni Association and the Ukrainian Pravda publication. Congratulations to the thirty winners from Ukraine this year. We are proud of the following Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’s alumni for the recognition of their accomplishments as journalists: Alexandra Povoroznyk (Sociology 2016, Journalism 2018), Ostap Ukrainets (Philology 2016, History of Comparative Literature 20218), Kateryna Kovalenko (Journalism 20217), Bohdana Neborak (Law, 2018), Nastia Kalyta (Journalism 2021), Nastia Ivantsiv (Social Work 2016).
The Georgiy Gongadze Prize seeks to support journalists who are not afraid of challenges and are able to find innovative ways of conveying the truth, who promote the implementation of liberal reforms in Ukraine, discover new opportunities for the whole media environment, and are capable of creating stability in what they do while remaining true to the principles and values in the profession.
Kyiv-Mohyla School of Journalism is considered a top training center for journalists in all media publications, including radio, television, and print. The J-School promotes high professional standards and opportunities for practice at leading Ukrainian and foreign media; it emphasizes the values and ethics that result in trust and credibility; it seeks the highest standards in the profession and the ability to analyze complex situations and possible consequences. The J-School’s project StopFake, to debunk false information has been the recipient of many international awards.
