NaUKMA received a grant from the US National Institutes of HealthPublic Health Research

In 2021-2026, NaUKMA will implement a project supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a key US government agency in health and biomedical research.

The project, "Study of knowledge, attitudes, practices, and context of the implementation of treatment of mental health disorders among primary care physicians in Ukraine" will be implemented under the International Grant for Career Development of the International Fogart Center of the National Institutes of Health.

This interdisciplinary research project will be based in the Kyiv Mohyla School of Public Health, to be implemented together with the Kyiv Mohyla Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University.

The project will provide financial support for the research work conducted by Alona Mazhnaya, senior lecturer at the NaUKMA School of Public Health. Congratulations to Dr. Alona Mazhdaya on this grant.

Alona Mazhdaya, PhD. Her background includes doctoral studies at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (2020), School of Public Health, the State University of New York at Albany, NY (2013). Link

The goal is to develop evidence-based approaches to mental health treatment that can be shared through expansion strategies. The project will address the key challenges facing most public health agencies in Ukraine, and the priorities identified by the National Institute of Public Health.

The grant will also provide opportunities for professional development, as well as comprehensive institutional support in the transition to full scientific independence and research maturity.
