School of Law

The Law School offers a dynamic legal curriculum led by eminent legal experts that blends practical experience with forward-thinking.  Students have an opportunity to study and do research abroad, expanding their experience beyond the classroom.  Modeled on in-country legal principles, the curriculum is adapted to Western European and American models of public and private law.  Graduates of Kyiv-Mohyla Law School are sought after by law firms, corporations, and government entities.

The School of Law offers a Bachelor's degree in Law, a Master's degree in Law, and Public Administration, as well as a Doctorate program in Law, and International Law. The School has the following departments:

  • Theory of Legal Studies and Public Law

  • Private Law

  • Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure

  • International and European Law

  • Social Governance

The school also offers students a parallel course of study in certificate programs-  training that gives current law students the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and effective practical skills in a particular legal field.

These certificate programs are an answer to the problem of the narrow specializations that typically exist in other Ukrainian law schools. In the Ukrainian national system of education, specializations often limit the educational opportunities of future lawyers. The narrow specialization is then indicated in the diploma, which potentially narrows employment opportunities.

Certificate programs are carefully structured sets of elective courses on related topics, and are included in the Master or Bachelor program "Law".  Students may master several certificate programs, or may not choose any, forming their own unique individual learning plan. Students can choose the following certificate programs to study in parallel:

  • Global Economic Law (taught in English)

  • Criminal Justice (in partnership with Vasyl Kisil and Partners)

  • Commercial Law (in partnership with Baker McKenzie)

  • Business Taxation (in partnership with Ernst & Young Ukraine)

  • International Public Law and Human Rights

  • Current Issues in Public Law
