School of Humanities
The study of philosophy, literature, languages, religion, art, music, and history helps students understand our world. In Ukraine in particular, the study of humanities plays a key role in understanding the trajectory of a nation in transition from the post-Soviet world and in giving cultural context to the contemporary development of Ukraine.
Departments: The School of Humanities offers Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degrees in the following departments:

Philosophy and Religious Studies
Cultural Studies
Literature, Comparative Literature
Linguistics and Foreign Languages
Ukrainian Language and Literature
Additionally, students are offered an opportunity of a minor degree in a variety of fields, such as Judaica, museum studies, art studies, history of diplomacy, second foreign language, religion, and literature studies. Finally, the English Language Department offers students of all levels of education at NaUKMA both mandatory courses and a wide range of elective courses in the English language.

The body of research work focuses on topical issues of humanitarian, social, and natural profiles. It explores subjects of political transformations of post-communist society, formation of political systems in sovereign Ukraine, obstacles to studying and teaching of the Ukrainian language, methods of communication-oriented teaching of the English language, history and geopolitical reality of Eastern and Central Europe, role of Kyiv in the context of the philosophy of Ukraine, and more.
Its various connections with domestic and foreign educational and scientific institutions are important for the development of the school. The faculty actively cooperates with research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, several U.S. universities, including the University of Indiana, Columbia, the University of Arizona, and the University of Minnesota, as well as various universities across the EU: Lublin University, University of Warsaw and others.
