Mohyla School of Law hold an online Workshop on Pro-Bono practices

A workshop on pro-bono practices worldwide was held on April 10, organized by the Faculty of Law at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and the Vance Center for International Justice of New York.  

The workshop raised the issue of pro-bono in collaboration with foreign colleagues, as it is still developing in Ukraine.  Such events will contribute to the implementation of best practices in the legal system internationally and in Ukraine.  KMA LawSchool is in the forefront in raising this developing law in Ukraine.
  
Participants discussed pro bono issues in the USA, Latin America, Africa,Europe, including Ukraine. Opening remarks were made by the KMA-Law Dean Volodymyr Venher, and the Latin America Policy Director at the Vance Center for International Justice, Jaime Chaves Alor. Taisa Markus, adjunct professor of Kyiv-Mohyla School of Law and also at the University of Illinois College of Law, spoke about the history of pro bono development in the United States. Representatives of major and international law firms and legal clinics provided their perspectives.  

From the Faculty of Law at NaUKMA, the topic of pro bono legal aid in Ukraine was presented by faculty members Denys Ishchenko, Yulia Matvieieva, Lyubov Logush, as well as students Angelina Kavulich and Diana Hodovana, who presented the achievements of the NaUKMA Legal Clinic.
