School of Natural Sciences
The School of Natural Sciences is acutely aware of its privilege and obligation to educate and train the next generation of scientists and leaders of Ukraine and to use science to find solutions to the problems Ukrainian society is currently facing.
There is an increasing need for well-trained scientists, scientifically trained decision-makers and for a scientifically literate public to meet the global and technological challenges of the 21st century. Innovative curricula and commitment to teaching excellence in the school's courses are essential for student success.
Departments: The School of Natural Sciences provides Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. Programs and includes five departments:
Biology
Chemistry
Environmental Studies
Physics and Mathematics
Laboratory Diagnostics of Biological Systems
Post-graduate studies are offered in Biochemistry, Genetics, Theoretical Physics, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, and Laboratory Diagnostics of Biological Systems.
Research
The School’s research centers and laboratories provide the opportunity to collaborate with scholars and scientists at the Academy and beyond to find innovative solutions to the most pressing problems affecting society today. The facilities include four research centers, and three laboratories.
Students can perform scientific inquiry at the Center for Molecular and Cell Research, engage in genetic analysis of plants using methods of genomic, chromosomal, sub-chromosomal engineering and molecular genetic marking, conduct molecular genetic research in the Laboratory of Genetics and Cell Biology, and study at the Research and Training Center for Biodiversity Conservation.
The Department of Ecology provides its curricula within the Center for Ecosystem Research, Climate Change and Sustainable Development. The main areas of research here are related to the study of natural and urban ecosystems, and the impact of climate change on the natural ecosystems of Ukraine.
