Statement from Founding President
Vyacheslav Bryukhovetsky
It has been my privilege to be part of the transition of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy from the Soviet past to an independent European nation, guided by the vision and responsibility of preparing a new generation of leaders for Ukraine through the highest order of education. This task inspired all our efforts to rebuild a university modeled on academic freedom, European values, and the highest international academic standards.
The university inherited the legacy of educational excellence and the historic campus from Petro Mohyla and other national heroes, but in our times, it is the highly qualified and respected faculty members and students, who embraced a new curriculum of international recognition and equivalency, that led Kyiv-Mohyla Academy to the position of a premier university of Ukraine.
At this time when the world and Ukraine are faced with new challenges, it is the wisdom gained through experience and education that will guide us for our common good and safety. Kyiv-Mohyla Academy will continue its role to consolidate Ukrainian society and seek stability and peace through study and dialogue about dignity, freedom, equality, leadership, religion, language, and security. Through dialogue and a search for new ideas, together we will find the answers to the future.
National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” has solidified its institutional significance as a beacon of the values of the Ukrainian nation, as a leader in reforms and innovations, and as a defender of national and individual freedoms and human dignity.
As we honor our past, we look forward and plan for the future. We are proud of the alumni of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy who lead the nation as ambassadors, ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, corporate, and cultural and civil society leaders. They continue our legacy and lead the way to the future.
The support of donors and a spirit of freedom and independence inspire our collective Kyiv-Mohyla family with new energy and hope. On behalf of all past and present members of the faculty, members of the administration and students, thank you for your trust and support.
