Students arranged a charitable festival continuing the tradition of the legendary “VyVykh” in Lviv

On June 10 KMA Students came together in the atmosphere of cultural expression and art on a festival, which took place on the campus and recreated the values of the legendary festival “VyVykh” in Lviv.

“VyVykh” was a youth festival of non-traditional art genres. The first event was arranged in Lviv at the end of May 1990. It was dedicated to the Day of Africa's Liberation and the first anniversary of the Lviv Student Brotherhood. Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’s students this atmosphere of freedom at the festival “Kyiv-Mohyla VyVykh” to meet this summer with joy, yet not to forget about their defenders. This festival had a charitable purpose. All the money from the flea market and activities (about 1200 USD) was raised to help KMA Bachelor’s program student Denys Chopan buy a military drone.

Denys is a member of the 75th Plast Kurin named after the Heroes of the Battle of Kruty. In February 2022 he volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Denys received news of his recognition with this highest rank while already being deployed in the eastern region. While serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Denys received the highest honor of Plast, the Hetman's Plastun-Skoba. Generals of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), Roman Shukhevych and Oleksa Hasyd, also aspired to achieve this rank during their time in Plast's youth division. However, they were awarded the title of Hetman's Skoba posthumously. Today, we are living in a time when heroes walk among us and we wish Denys a long life and courage.

We are proud of KMA students and their unity!
