It is a pleasure to introduce Yuriy Gorodnichenko, PhD, the new chairman of Kyiv Mohyla Foundation. Dr. Gorodnichenko succeeds Ambassador William Green Miller to lead the board of director of the Foundation. Dr. Gorodnichenko served on the board of Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation for three years. In January 2019 he was elected as chairman of the board. Sharing his commitment to education, we welcome him at this exciting time of Ukraine’s continued development and transformation.
Ambassador William Green Miller led the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation through years of dedicated service. He inspired us to set and reach our goals, to search for and defend the truth, and to believe in the mission of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He encouraged us to persevere during the time of the Orange Revolution and then during the Maidan Revolution. He believed in the dignity of each human being, and in the Academy’s historic mission of preparing leaders for the nation. We are thankful to Ambassador Miller for his many years of dedicated service, and we wish him well during his retirement in Washington D.C.
Yuriy Gorodnichenko, PhD, is professor of economics at University of California Berkeley. He is a graduate of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and obtained his PhD from the Universityof Michigan. He is the author of various books and published articles. He is a supporter of his Alma Mater and returns to Ukraine in teaching and advisory capacities annually.
Dr. Gorodnichenko is Quantedge Presidential Professor, Department of Economics at University of California. He is Editor of Journal of Monetary Economics, Editor of Visnyk of the National Bank of Ukraine, Visiting scholar of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Faculty research associate at National Bureau of Economic Research, Cambridge, MA , Research fellow, Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) and International fellow at Kiel Institute for the World Economy. Professor Gorodnichenko is a member of the International Academic Board and Board of Directors at Kyiv School of Economics.
