The Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Team won the Philip C. Jessup Public International Law Moot Court Competition, the highest win in the history of NaUKMA’s participation in the event.
This year’s record-breaking competition in Washington, D.C. had 143 teams from around the globe, the best teams from their respective countries.
The Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Team won all four qualifying rounds against teams from Colombia, Pakistan, Greece, and the United States. The team eventually became one of the 16 best teams of the competition by winning in the 1/16 finals.
The Philip C. Jessup Public International Law Moot Court Competition is the oldest and largest international litigation contest in the world, attended by participants from nearly seven hundred law schools from around the world. During the competition, team members imitate the processes of the International Court of Justice and solve fictional disputes between countries.
The NaUKMA Team thanked the Avellum and Baker McKenzie law firms, the Ukrainian Bar Association, and the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of America for their support, which enabled this representation of Ukraine in Washington, D.C.
