In honor of the Day of Unity, the President of Ukraine awarded Rostyslav Pavlenko, a member of the Supervisory Board and a graduate of NaUKMA, with the Order of Freedom.
As Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Advisor to the President of Ukraine, he was recognized for his “significant personal contribution to state building, strengthening of national security, socio-economic, scientific and technical, cultural and educational development of the Ukrainian state, significant work achievements.” The order has been published in its entirety on the website of the President of Ukraine.
Rostyslav Pavlenko was Ukraine’s representative at the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul, which approved the draft statute of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Church. Rostyslav Pavlenko took an active part in these events as a representative of the President during the process of giving a Tomos to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
According to a study done by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, receiving the Tomos for Autocephaly has become the top event of 2018. NaUKMA alumnus Rostyslav Pavlenko, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, has contributed a great deal of effort to actually make this event a reality for Ukraine. Rostyslav Pavlenko is a graduate of the bachelor program in political science at NaUKMA (1997), holds a master’s degree in political science from the Central European University (Hungary), and is a postgraduate student at NaUKMA. From 2000-2005 he worked at the Department of Political Science at NaUKMA: Senior Professor (2000-2002), Associate Professor (2002-2005), Head of the Department (2005). He helped found the School of Political Analysis of NaUKMA. In 2018, Rostyslav Pavlenko was elected to the Supervisory Board of NaUKMA.
