CONGRATULATIONS TO KYIV-MOHYLA LAW SCHOOL AND THE MOOT COURT TEAM FOR WINNING FIRST PLACE AT THE HUMAN RIGHTS MOOT COURT COMPETITION OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE.
Students from NaUKMA were declared winners of the European Moot Court Competition in English on the European Convention on Human Rights, after beating a team from the Sofia University (Bulgaria) in the final round. The team from University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) placed third.
The prize of the Best Orator of the finals was awarded to Oleh Dykyi from the Kyiv Mohyla Academy.
The Best Respondent Written Submission prize was given to the team from the Sofia University.
The Best Applicant Written Submission prize was awarded to Kyiv Mohyla Academy.
The final round took place at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The jury was chaired by Georgios Serghides, a European Court of Human Rights judge on behalf of Cyprus, and included judges of the Court and senior officials from Council of Europe.
Twenty university teams from fifteen countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine and United Kingdom) have competed in a case regarding the balance between individual rights and national security.
