Kyiv Mohyla Academy held the Graduation ceremony of the Class of 2013 on June 28th with the attendance of graduates, their families, and friends. This year marked the 19th commencement of graduates since the university’s re-establishment in 1991. As each year, graduates of the university’s schools and departments received their diplomas from Dr. Viacheslav Briukhovetsky, the university’s honorary president, and Dr. Serhiy Kvit, president.
This year’s graduating class consisted of 913 graduates: 462 received a Bachelor’s degree, 382 a Master’s degree, and 69 a specialists’ diploma. In addition, 69 were awarded the MBA degree from the Kyiv Mohyla School of Business. This was the largest graduating class since the university’s rebirth in 1991.
This year commencement speakers included three distinguished educators: Marta Kolomayets, Director of the Fulbright Program in Ukraine,Jerzy Kozakiewicz, professor of history at Warsaw National University and former ambassador of Poland in Ukraine, and Volodymyr A. Vasylenko, doctor of jurisprudence, Kyiv Mohyla Academy Law School professor, and Ambassador of Ukraine.
Ms. Marta Kolomayets commented on the success of Kyiv Mohyla Academy’s students, faculty and graduates and their participation in the Fulbright Program. She said, “It was such an honor to give the commencement address at the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy on June 28; the University has sent more than 50 students and faculty to the US on Fulbright grants and more than 70 US students and scholars have done research and taught at NaKMA. It is a great institution of higher learning with wonderful European traditions and high moral and democratic standards”.
